HGV/LGV Medicals
Welcome
How frequently do I require an HGV medical?
The DVLA mandates that professional drivers undergo medical examinations at specific intervals. The initial medical examination is required at the commencement of your professional career. After that, you will need a medical exam every five years until you reach 65, beginning at the age of 45. Upon reaching the age of 65, it will be necessary to undergo an annual medical examination.

What do your medicals entail?
You will be asked to fill out a medical information form and go through a physical examination when you undergo a driver’s medical. The physical examination comprises a myopia evaluation utilising a Snellen chart and a test for blood pressure to guarantee that it satisfies DVLA standards.
Blood Pressure Test: In order to satisfy the requirements of DVLA Group 2, your blood pressure reading must not consistently go above 179/99. This implies that the required standard will not be met if the systolic blood pressure you have is constantly 180 or higher or the diastolic blood pressure you have is continuously 100 or higher.
Vision Evaluation: The minimum vision requirement is 6/7.5 in one of the eyes and 6/60 in the other eye, as determined by a 3-metre Snellen chart. Please ensure that you bring your current prescription and any driving spectacles or contact lenses you use to the medical assessment.
Medical History Questionnaire: You will be asked about a variety of medical conditions, including seizures, epilepsy, insulin-treated diabetes, and other health concerns, during your medical history questionnaire. Certain situations will not impact your application if they are effectively managed.
Our physician will finalise your D4 form by considering your medical history, medications, and test outcomes. The entire procedure typically requires approximately 16 minutes to be completed.
